A few weeks ago, we had the honor of attending the Black Theatre United Gala in New York City — an evening where purpose and talent were beautifully celebrated, and where excellence was present in every detail.
From the glowing décor to the remarkable individuals gathered in the room, the night radiated creativity, leadership, and impact. Yet beyond the elegance was something even more powerful: intention. The Gala served as a meaningful celebration of Black artistry, leadership, and legacy within American theatre, honoring both the cultural influence of the arts and the people shaping its future.
Championing Equity Through the Arts
Black Theatre United continues to play a vital role in advancing access, representation, and equity throughout American theatre and surrounding communities. Through advocacy, partnership, and intentional action, the organization is building sustainable pathways for Black creatives — both onstage and behind the scenes — ensuring that talent is not only seen, but supported.
At M.L. Best Consulting, our work centers on developing and elevating courageous, impactful, and conscious leaders across industries. That mission aligns deeply with the values exemplified by Black Theatre United. Leadership, like artistry, thrives when opportunity is equitable and voices are empowered.
Honoring Visionary Leadership
We extend our sincere congratulations to Kettia Ming and her team for producing such a thoughtful, inspiring, and beautifully executed event. The Gala was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when vision, leadership, and community come together with purpose.
As we look ahead, we remain inspired by the transformative work being done at the intersection of leadership, culture, and equity — and grateful for the opportunity to witness and support it.
Until next year.
